{"id":976,"date":"2014-06-21T21:03:13","date_gmt":"2014-06-21T20:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blackadderhall.com\/?p=976"},"modified":"2014-06-21T21:03:13","modified_gmt":"2014-06-21T20:03:13","slug":"blackadder-actress-patsy-byrne-nursie-aka-bernard-dies-aged-80","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blackadderhall.com\/?p=976","title":{"rendered":"Blackadder actress Patsy Byrne (Nursie (aka Bernard)) dies aged 80"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another day passes and we lose another fantastic Blackadder actor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blackadderhall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/pm_12614878.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-977\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.blackadderhall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/pm_12614878.jpg?resize=650%2C451&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"pm_12614878\" width=\"650\" height=\"451\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It has been <a href=\"http:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2014\/06\/21\/actress-patsy-byrne-aka-blackadders-nursie-dies-aged-80-4770979\/\">reported<\/a> that Patsy Byrne, Nursie (or Bernard) in Blackadder II and Blackadder&#8217;s Christmas Carol has passed away at the age of 80.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports Byrne passed away on June 17 at Denville Hall \u2013 a retirement home for actors \u2013 in Hillingdon, London.<\/p>\n<p>The actress, who was born in Ashford, Kent, notched up a string of TV and theatre roles in the early part of her acting career.<\/p>\n<p>However she is best remembered for her Blackadder role \u2013 with the clueless but loyal Nursie (whose real name was actually Bernard), becoming one of the most loved characters of the 1986 series.<\/p>\n<p>She was certainly one of my favourite characters of the series; with some great lines from Mr Curtis and Mr Elton.<\/p>\n<p>RIP Bernard.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s one of my favourite lines from Nursie.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x98cE4QCrlk\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another day passes and we lose another fantastic Blackadder actor.
